The flagship CD player "Planck 2" now accepts resolutions up to 192 kHz / 24 bit at its USB input as well as at the optical and electrical S/PDIF inputs. Thanks to the galvanically isolated USB circuitry, harmful feedback from the computer is supposed to be kept out. CDs are read in the new CD-PRO 2LF drive, sitting in an 8 mm aluminum base. They are inserted from above and protected from the outside by a sliding cover made of 10 mm thick aluminum.
Audionet has put a lot of effort into the resonance-optimized construction of the solid aluminum housing – with its integrated marble plate – and the decoupling of the drive unit and electronics. The discrete Class A output stages have also been newly developed. Similar improvements have been made to the smaller ART G5 player, which is the successor to the ART G3.
Both devices are available now* from select retailers. The Planck 2 is said to have a price of 14,490 euros*, the ART 2 8,490 euros*.
