Brexit also affects the HiFi industry

British newcomer closes doors

| UW

Mitchell & Johnson, a relatively young hi-fi manufacturer from the United Kingdom, will cease operations with immediate effect.

Various British media have reported this. Mitchell & Johnson has been offering CD players and pre-amplifiers since 2012, which were initially manufactured in the Far East. Last year the production was relocated to England. However, the construction of its own factory, has apparently been to much for the company, especially due to declining consumer demand in light of Brexit uncertainty. In addition, it had not been possible to establish an international sales network quickly enough. It remains to be added that maybe focusing on a CD player and amplifier combination, is not quite the right strategy in times of vinyl revival on the one hand and the streaming boom on the other.
