Cable specialist buys speaker manufacturer

The Quest Group acquires GoldenEar

| UW

Through the merging, the GoldenEar loudspeaker brand should benefit from The Quest Group's distribution structure.

Ten years ago Don Givogue, Bob Johnston and Sandy Gross founded the loudspeaker company GoldenEar on the US East Coast. Now they are selling their company to California's "The Quest Group", known for its cable and DAC brand Audioquest. The main goal of the merger is to use synergies for worldwide sales. Especially in Europe and Asia, Audioquest's logistics is miles ahead of the GoldenEar distribution network. Also, Audioquest dealers in North America could gradually become GoldenEar dealers. GoldenEar will nevertheless continue to pursue its own distribution strategy. The loudspeaker manufacturer should remain unchanged for the greatest part. "I'm taking over an intact company where nothing has to be repaired," says Bill Low, head of Audioquest.
