According to the manufacturer, the new Monitor Audio "Hyphn" loudspeakers are the further developed version of the "Concept 50", presented last year at the High End Audio Show Munich. The speakers each consist of two individual columns, which are connected by a piece carrying to the so-called "M-Array". According to Monitor Audio, the cabinet made of mineral and acrylic stone is extremely stable, as well as almost vibration-free thanks to bracing and reinforcements.
The central "M-Array" of the new Monitor Hyphn houses midrange drivers and tweeter, the latter with "Micro Pleated Diaphragm III technology (MPD III)", which is already used in the current "Platinum 3G" series. In the special array, the tweeter is surrounded by a total of six midrange drivers, each with a diameter of 2"/5cm. These come with the "Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III)" cone, also used in the flagship Platinum speakers, which is supposed to offer high clarity, among other benefits.
For the low frequencies, Monitor Audio uses a total of four woofers per speaker, two per column. The 8"/20cm woofers work in a "force-cancelling" setup, where two drivers are aligned against each other to reduce vibrations. In addition, according to the manufacturer, the drivers' large voice coils are intended to reduce distortion.
The Monitor Audio Hyphn, the manufacturer's new flagship speaker, is supposed to be available immediately for €82,500 (in Germany), in the finishes Satin White, Matte Black and "Heritage Green".
