In spring 2021, Piega's previous entry-level series "TMicro" will be replaced by the successor "Ace". This series was designed by the renowned Swiss designer Stephan Hürlemann and consists of the slim, one-meter-high floorstanding speaker Ace 50, the particularly compact satellite speaker Ace 30 and the center speaker Ace Center. The cabinets of all models are made of aluminum, and have an oval design that is just 14 centimeters wide and 16 centimeters deep, featuring neither visible screws or seams, nor sharp edges that cause annoying resonances.
The trio additionally features speaker chassis specially modified for this series. For the higher frequencies, the PIEGA developers continue to rely on the Air Motion Transformer AMT-1 with its extremely lightweight, 24 x 36 mm ribbon.
The Ace 30 standmount speaker is the smallest speaker in the portfolio of PIEGA, with its baffle measuring only 14 x 22 cm. The front of the slim floor-standing speaker PIEGA Ace 50 contains three 120 mm drivers – two are responsible for the bass, one for the mid-range. Compared to the previous model, the new drivers of the Ace 50 are supposed to provide a significantly more powerful and deeper bass reproduction. In terms of lab measurements, they are even said to deliver a sound pressure level that is almost twice as high. Recommended especially for medium-sized living rooms, the Ace 50 stands securely on a round base plate set off from the cabinet, which not only gives the speaker optimal stability, but also its own visual style.
To ensure that the new Ace series can also be used in or as a multi-channel home theater system, the flat Ace Center completes the range. Thanks to its compact size, the Ace Center is supposedly easy to be placed conveniently on a shelf below or above the TV screen.
The Ace 50 is supposed to cost around €1,980 per pair*, the Ace 30 around €980* and the Ace Center around €590 per piece*.
