Piega Premium Wireless Speakers Now In Gen 2

The three wireless active speakers of Piega's "Premium Wireless" series are entering their second generation, being said to offer high flexibility and more.

The new generation of the Piega Premium Wireless active speakers is said to offer greater flexibility in placement, thanks in part to the now closed cabinet design. All three of the new models carry the ribbon tweeter "Linear Drive Ribbon" from Piega in their aluminum housing. In addition, the standmount/shelf model Premium 301 Wireless carries a mid-woofer, while the two floorstanding speakers – Premium 501 Wireless and Premium 701 Wireless – now each carry one midrange driver as well as four woofers, with the drivers of the larger "701" speaker being larger.

Like their predecessors, the new Piega active speakers receive their signals via the "Connect" transmitter, which is now also available as "Connect Plus" with integrated streaming. This sends the music signals wirelessly in resolutions up to 96 kHz / 24 bit to the speakers; multi-room is also said to be possible. Besides streaming – Airplay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, DLNA and Bluetooth – the device also offers wired inputs: HDMI, USB, coaxial, optical and analog RCA.

The speakers are accompanied by the Piega Control smartphone app, which is said to provide an equalizer for sound adjustment, among other things. Furthermore, the new speakers are stated to offer access to a room calibration feature when used with the iOS variant of the app on an iPhone. The Piega Premium Wireless can also be controlled via the accompanying remote control. Piega states a total amplifier power of 200 watts for the largest models, the 701, 180 watts for the smaller floorstander 501, and 100 watts for the standmount speaker 301.

All three Gen 2 versions of the Piega Premium Wireless speakers are available now*, in aluminum or, for an additional €200* per speaker, in black or white. The 301 are said to cost €1475* per piece, the 501 €2975* per piece, and the 701 as the largest model €3750* per piece. The hub belonging to the Premium Wireless series is available in two versions, as "Connect Plus" with streaming for €590* or as a pure transmitter without streaming under the name "Connect" for €290*.
