The Zen DAC V2 uses a True Native DSD / DXD DAC from Burr Brown, in conjunction with a modern XMOS processor, as do all DACs from iFi Audio. However, the XMOS processor in the second generation Zen DAC has 16 cores instead of 8, which almost doubles the DAC's processing power.
Via its USB 3.0 interface, the Zen DAC V2 processes data formats up to 32-bit 384 kHz, DXD, DSD256 and MQA. Thanks to the more powerful 16-core XMOS processor, it is now also capable of fully decoding MQA files. Thus, the new Zen DAC V2 is not only an MQA renderer, but a full-fledged MQA decoder. The further optimized GMT (Global Master Timing) in the signal processing is also new. This new clock generator is said to be extremely low-noise and reduce jitter even further.
The other features of the new Zen DAC V2 have not changed in comparison to the first generation. In Germany, the Zen DAC V2 is available now and costs around 170 Euros.
