STEREO was told many exclusive details, but is not allowed to reveal much at this point. Most importantly, there should be no photos of the finished products before the official product presentation. It goes without saying that the new series of the company is supposed to be resemble the unmistakable die-cast housings – almost synonymous with the brand – and retain the correspondingly high recognition value. The cases will be slightly different, even finer, but overall designed in such a way that they can be combined with components from the Signature and Classic series. We appreciate this, especially since this design has proven itself as an enormous protection against unwanted interferences and, keeping in mind our neutral standpoint, enjoys a certain popularity here as well. It is obvious that the compact dimensions have always presented the development team with special challenges.
New "XR"-series
New high-end devices from Cyrus
A small sensation might be coming towards us from England. And this sensation is small only in terms of dimensions. The high-class audiophile manufacturer Cyrus from Huntingdon wants to set new standards with the "XR" series.

Keeping current trends of the market in mind, which promise growth particularly in the upper segment, that of connoisseurs and enthusiasts, the new products will be positioned above the previous Signature flagship series and will each cost between around EUR 2,000 and 5,000 in Germany. In order to achieve a completely new level of sound quality, there were no restrictions for the development department for the first time in the history of Cyrus, according to owner Simon Freethy.
Music is first and foremost emotion, and Cyrus wants to convey this principle in the best possible way, while staying practical and offering top products. Since the best possible sound is based on the purity of the signal, the team has devoted a great deal of effort to the quality of the components, dynamic range/noise ratio, optimally short signal paths, the power supply and the DAC, the latter two of which Cyrus is known to have a great deal of expertise in. In addition, displays and user interfaces which aim to deliver a very intuitive and interactive operation will be featured.
STEREO will soon be the first magazine to test and review an XR integrated amplifier, one of the most notable products from this range.
The XR project is ambitious and culminates in the presentation of six new components at once to the public at the end of October with two integrated amplifiers, CD player and transport, DAC preamplifier and external power supply. It is and was a real challenge for a medium-sized company such as Cyrus, who began developing this series about ten years ago.
Good – Better – Best
In the future, Cyrus Audio will have good products for the ambitious beginner with the ONE series, the next higher level for established music-lovers with the CLASSIC series, and completely uncompromising devices for the demanding gourmet in their portfolio. Filling the latter category is the goal of the new XR series.
A streamer as well as more powerful power amplifiers are also already in development, as additional components of the series. STEREO is already looking forward to all of this.
