Carrying the name No. 5909, the first wireless "lifestyle headphones" from Mark Levinson are coming. The headphones carry 40 mm drivers with beryllium coating as well as a leather headband and ear cushions. Adaptive active noise cancelling with three different modes is also featured in the headphones. With ANC enabled, they are said to offer 30 hours of battery life, and up to 34 hours without. They can receive music via Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC, AAC and aptX™, as well as via cable, and process singals up to 24-bit/96kHz. A hard case and various charging and audio cables and adapters are said to be included.
To commemorate Mark Levinson's 50th birthday, Harman Luxury Audio is also introducing the ML-50 amplifier package, which consists of two mono amplifiers and is limited to 100 pairs worldwide. The amplifiers are said to be based on various reference amplifiers from the history of Mark Levinson and carry a clear glass top cover as well as integrated LEDs to illuminate the interior. According to the manufacturer, the technology inside is based on the Mark Levinson No.536 amplifier, and offers even lower noise thanks to higher capacity of the high voltage supply, as well as higher capacity for the main high current supply, when compared to it. Distortion is said to have been reduced as well, giving the amplifiers a stated quad Class A output of 20W into 8 ohms and a stated Class AB output of 425W into 8 ohms. Other features include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, Mark Levinson hurricane speaker terminals, external control options, new ventilation and cooling, and vibration-damping feet.
The new Mark Levinson No. 5909 headphones are scheduled to be available in January 2022*, in "Pearl Black," "Ice Pewter" and "Radiant Red" colors at a price of €1000*. The limited edition Mark Levinson ML-50 amplifier package is scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter of 2022*. The Mark Levinson No. 5909 is also said to come with a 90-day trial for the high-resolution audio streaming service Qobuz and a selected playlist therein*.
