Chord Electronics has developed a new preamplifier. At this year's High End trade fair in Munich, the Chord Electronics Ultima Pre 3 will be shown to the world. The new preamp was completely newly developed and finds its spot below the two well-known preamplifiers Ultima Pre 2 and Ultima Reference from the manufacturer. According to the Chord, it employs the most recent innovations in the field of low-distortion PSUs. This technology is said to guarantee particularly low noise.
The Ultima Pre 3 features five analog inputs (two balanced and three unbalanced), all of which are individually buffered and selectively filtered against potential high-frequency interference. On the outside, the Pre 3 benefits from a completely revised technological design with a central, circular "power sphere". This is accompanied by a new volume control as well as a balance/AV bypass selector switch.
The Pre 3 is said to come in "Jet Black" and "Agent Silver" finishes at a price of around 7800 euros*. The first models are supposed to be available starting in June 2022*.
