MAGAZINESonos has released a firmware update that now supports Spotify Free. With other devices that are "Spotify Connect"-capable, this has been working for quite some time. Chromecast audio devices can also be streamed from the Spotify app with a free account. Sonos users can access Spotify Free from the Sonos app, the Spotify smartphone or desktop app, or via Google Assistant. However, a Spotify premium subscription is still required for targeted access to any title on the smartphone and for offline use – which also offers better sound quality and playback without commercial interruptions.

Previously, the paid "Premium" subscription was required to use the Spotify music streaming service on Sonos devices. Now you can also use Sonos with Spotify Free.
