Streaming in CD Quality

Spotify Announces HiFi Subscription

The world's most successful music streaming service announces the launch of an optional upgrade to CD quality in its newsroom.

Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, Amazon – they have all been offering CD-quality streaming for a, more or less, long time. Now, Spotify apparently also wants to be a part of that market and announces the option of an upgrade to "Spotify HiFi" in "select markets" before the end of the year. Devices with Spotify Connect are said to also be able to support the higher data rates. In order to achieve that goal, Spotify is currently working with "some of the world's biggest speaker manufacturers" to enable seamless integration. Currently, it is not clear which countries will be included in these select markets, nor whether Spotify HiFi will include high-res streaming, nor at what price the new subscription will be offered.
