Wharfedale's flagship speaker series "Elysian" now features another, new floorstanding speaker, which is located below the absolute flagship Elysian 4 in size and price: the Elysian 3, which is said to adopt many technologies of the larger model. With a height of 105 centimeters, the new speaker also operates as a 3-way system with four drivers, two of which are woofers.
As the other Elysian models, the Elysian 3 carries an Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, whose folded and lightweight membrane is supposed to deliver low distortion, high dynamics, wide bandwidth and more. The rest of the drivers work with fiberglass cones, and come with a phase plug in their middle, which is also supposed to promise a broad bandwidth.
Furthermore, the Elysian 3 carry a bass port radiating downwards with Wharfadale's "Slot-Loaded Profiled Port" technology, which, according to the manufacturer, should ensure low distortion and easy placement. The special cabinet design is said to further improve the performance of the speakers, as multiple layers of different density woods are said to reduce resonance, among other things.
The new Wharfedale Elysian 3 floorstanding speakers are available immediately and come at a price of approximately €7000 (pair price in Germany, MSRP) in the piano lacquer finishes white, black and walnut.
