The headphones come with Bluetooth aptX Adaptive and ANC from Sony. The IO-12 does not have to be operated active via Bluetooth, but can also be controlled completely analog and passive. New compared to the two previous models IO-4 and IO-6 is the so-called "Sound Mode" button, which can be used to switch between "hi-fi" and a more bass-emphasized tuning.
The IO-12 is deliberately designed to work completely without an app. The 50-millimeter drivers also use DALI's SMC technology, proven for example in the company's flagship Kore loudspeakers, for the first time. For now, the IO-12 is only available in brown with leather for around €1,000.
The new headphones from Denmark were presented at the High End Munich playing with Bluesound's strictly limited Node X – a special edition of the popular streamer Node with better DAC and high-quality THX AAA headphone amplifier for around €800.
