The chrome applications on the front are a thing of the past now; the looks of the SV-237MkII integrated amplifier, available in silver or black, are now somewhat more timeless and serious.
In the preamplifier section of the 20.4 kilogram amp, one 12AX7 and two 6N1P NOS tubes are at work, aiming to provide a natural, warm sound, while the power amplifier is equipped with semiconductors – making the amp a hybrid type – and is supposed to deliver 2x 150/250 watts RMS into 8/4 ohms. Up to about 10 watts, the amplifier operates in Class A mode. During the development, attention is said to have been paid above all to low noise; Vincent states >90 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
As with the predecessor, Vincent gave the bestseller – in addition to three high level inputs and pre outs – a digital section with coaxial and optical input, employing a high-quality Burr Brown PCM 5102 DAC with 24 bit and 192 kilohertz. A headphone and a recorder output as well as connections for up to four speakers are also offered.
The new Vincent amp is said to be available immediately and comes wih a price tag of about €2500 in Germany.
