MM Cartridge for the Beethoven-Year 2020

Ortofon 2M Black as LVB-250-Edition

The danish pickup specialist presents a new top MM cartridge based on the 2M Black, in honor of the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven and his 250th birthday.

On the one hand, the material of the needle carrier has been improved: The Nude Shibata diamond sits on a cantilever made of the extremely stiff and lightweight boron – just like Ortofon's MC system Cadenza Black. As another innovation, Ortofon has developed a new rubber material for the bearing. It is based on a nano filler made of carbon nano tubes and is said to optimize damping and overall performance. Ortofon recommends the 2M Black LVB 250 for light- to medium-weight tonearms at a tracking force of 1.6 grams and a load capacitance of 150 to 300 pF.

The new Ortofon MM top model will be available from February 1, 2021* for about 1000 Euros*. The Ortofon Stylus 2M LVB 250 stylus unit, available separately, also turns an Ortofon 2M Bronze or 2M Black into a full-fledged 2M Black LVB 250.

*Availability and Prices for Germany.
