The German phono expert Clearaudio has introduced a new high-priced phono preamplifier. The device carries balanced and unbalanced inputs for MM and MC cartridges and XLR as well as RCA outputs. The bottom panel allows switching between MM and MC, and fine adjustment for capacitance and terminating impedance; a mono switch and the subsonic filter can also be also found there.
Numerous adjustment options are said to allow the operation of any cartridge. The external power supply unit is built in a double-mono design. In addition, the device offers a volume control and a remote control for input selection. Furthermore, according to Clearaudio, the Balance Reference Phono has two high-quality headphone outputs. Everything is housed in a solid aluminum enclosure.
The price for the new Balance Reference Phono from Clearaudio, which is available in silver or black, is around €7,900 in Germany.
