With high quality metal parts and curved tonearm

New Pro-Ject Debut Pro S with Ten Inch S Tonearm

High-quality aluminum parts and a curved S tonearm are supposed to aid the Debut Pro S from Pro-Ject in providing a solid performance.

The Debut Pro turntable from Austrian manufacturer Pro-Ject – popular thank to its simplicity and high sound quality – is now also available as an "S" version with a curved, height-adjustable aluminum tonearm. Its tip is equipped with a quick-connect SME-style connector, which allows for a quick change of the pickup, whether it is mounted in a corresponding headshell or – like the included MM pickup Pick it 2 C – carries the appropriate connection itself. Due to its slightly higher effective mass, the arm is also suitable for the usually somewhat stiffer suspended MC pickups, according to the manufacturer.

The TPE-damped aluminum plate has stayed the same, but now, however, it received a metal support. The MDF chassis, which has been enlarged for the ten-inch extra-long tonearm in the interest of low tracking error angles, appears in a silk-matte finish. A dust cover is included, a platter weight is optional. For the motor bearing of the Debut Pro S, Pro-Ject promises a further optimized damping. Via an additional round belt on the larger pulley, 78 RPM are possible in addition to 33,33 and 45. Thanks to the quick connection, the Debut Pro S can als be equipped with a pickup suitable for shellac records.

The Debut Pro S costs around 900 euros in Germany, including a high-quality phono cable.
