The British cable specialist Chord Company from Wiltshire unveiled the PowerHAUS distributors, which are intended to represent an uncompromising combination of design expertise, diversity in use and high manufacturing quality. The "HAUS" in PowerHAUS stands for „Hybrid Aray Unfiltered Supply“ and is available in the quality grades "Studio" and "Master". The power unit with 6 slots was developed technically as well as optically in lengthy tests, which were already started in the year 2003, as stated by the manufacturer. Various technologies known from the cable series were the basis for the development, but were however developed further with particular attention to the requirements of mains distribution.
Both mains distribution blocks, PowerHAUS M6 as well as PowerHAUS S6, do not use active filters, switches or any neon lights for power indication, as these could reduce and/or degrade sound quality, according to the Chord Company. Their solid aluminum construction is also designed to minimize the effects of microphonics. Instead of using star-shaped wiring, Chord Company's research revealed that three strictly isolated and parallel solid copper bus bars and the consistent physical separation of the earth bar from the phase and neutral conductors are supposed to yield sonic gains.
The flagship Master M6 is said to offer the best overall performance and uses three hybrid MainsARAYs connected in parallel (NOT in series). Both models have a separate ground connector. The mains cable can be freely chosen by the customer, detailed recommendations are provided by participating retailers*. Suggested retail prices are €1,295* for the PowerHAUS S6 and €2,595* for the PowerHAUS M6.
