The MA8950 integrated amplifier is said to deliver 200 watts per channel, while the MA9500 integrated amplifier is said to deliver 300 watts per channel. In both models, "McIntosh AutoformerTM Technology" is supposed to ensure that full power is maintained at the speakers, no matter if they have an impedance of 2, 4 or 8 ohms.
Filter capacitance is claimed to have been more than doubled – when compared to the preceding models – to improve dynamic headroom and reproduce musical peaks with even lower distortion and better low-frequency performance. Included from now on is the DA2 Digital Audio Module, which supports high-resolution digital music playback up to DSD512 and 24-bit/192kHz.
Also included is an HDMI (ARC) input and discrete five-band equalization, as well as various McIntosh technologies such as "McIntosh Blue" wattmeter, Power Guard®, Sentry MonitorTM, heat sink with MonogramTM, Home Theater PassThru, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®), and Power Control.
