New Standmounts from JBL: L82 Classic

Based on the JBL L100 Classic introduced in 2018, Harman Luxury Audio launches the second model in the classic series: the standmount speaker JBL L82 Classic.

Theses new speakers are the bookshelf version of the legendary JBL L100 3-way loudspeaker from 1970, which in turn was the home version of JBL´s 4310 Pro Studio Monitor, whose iconic design made it one of the world's most famous speakers. The vintage design of the JBL L100 Classic is deliberatelily replicated, including the chassis in classic walnut veneer and the distinctive speaker cover made of Quadrex foam in orange, black or blue.

For the JBL L82 Classic, Harman engineers have opted for a compact cabinet that can be placed either upright or lying down. It is equipped with modern acoustic components as a 2-way system. The iconic 8-inch white-cone woofer (JW200PW-6 Pure Pulp) in a cast iron frame, combined with a front-firing bass reflex design, aims to provide a solid and impressive sound foundation. These are complemented by the JT025TI1-4 1-inch titanium tweeter, equipped with waveguide technology, aiming to deliver clean highs and exceptional dynamics.

Modern crossovers complete the features of the JBL L82 Classic and, together with the driver, are designed to deliver an exceptional range of dynamics and contrast, high output power and a precise, powerful bass. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the compact speaker provides timeless acoustics thanks to a high detail resolution, low distortion and lifelike studio reproduction. In addition, the sound can be adjusted individually via the HF controller placed on the baffle. The iconic look of the JBL L82 Classic is rounded off by the two gold-plated connection ports on the rear.

Equipped in this way, the JBL L82 Classic measures 42 x 281 x 32 centimeters (height x width x depth, including cover), weighs almost 13.7 kilograms, making their positioning and layout easily adjustable. “The L100 Classic has been a tremendous success for us, delivering on the promise of JBL sound and the romance of the vintage aesthetic,” said Jim Garrett, senior director responsible for product strategy and planning at Harman Luxury Audio. “With the L82 Classic, we have a product that evokes the same instantly recognizable design and revered sound quality, and yet it does so with a considerably smaller physical footprint. On the one hand, the JBL L82 Classic complements the L100 family and, on the other hand, fits perfectly into the long tradition of successful 2-way loudspeakers from JBL".

The JBL L82 Classic are available immediately from authorized dealers.* The recommended retail price is EUR 2,200 per pair*. Available as accessories are the JS-80 standmounts, MSRP 200 EUR* per pair. They perfectly complement the JBL L82 Classic and lift the compact speakers into the right position for relaxed enjoyment of music. Harman also offers additional speaker covers in the colors orange, black and blue, available in pairs with a recommended retail price of 107 EUR*.
