The D/A converter "Organik", completely developed by Linn themselves, was introduced last year as part of the newest generation of the flagship streamer "Klimax DSM". Linn has now announced that all of their old "Klimax DS" and "Klimax DSM" streamers – all the way back to the first devices from 2007 – can get an "Organik" upgrade; the same applies to the "Klimax Exaktbox" as well as the "Klimax 350" integrated speakers.
The Organik digital-to-analog converter is discrete and is said to offer extremely low levels of noise as well as distortion. In addition to the special "Delta-Sigma" pulse width modulation (PWM) and "Discrete Analog Finite Impulse Response (AFIR)" during conversion, this is said to be ensured by a precise clock generator, a discrete power supply, and an optimized circuit board design. Organik can work with music data up to DSD256 and 24-bit/384kHz.
All old Klimax DS and Klimax DSM models from Linn can now be retrofitted with the new Organik D/A converter – at a price of €5,400 (excl. taxes). New Klimax Exaktboxes and Klimax 350 active speakers carry the DAC as standard, just like the new Klimax DSM. Old Klimax 350s can be retrofitted with the Organik at a price of €10,800 (excl. taxes), the Klimax Exaktbox for €5,400 (excl. taxes).
